Find all four groups of four before you run out of lives. The fewer lives it costs you, the better the day went.

  1. Tap 4 words you think belong together, then send them.Tap a chosen word again to take it back. Nothing is spent until you send the group.
  2. Read what comes back.A right group lifts to the top with its clue on it. A wrong group costs a life, and when exactly three of your four did belong together we say so, which turns sixteen unknowns into four.
  3. Start with the group you are surest of.Every board is built so that at least one word looks like it fits a group it does not. The safe move is to find the four you cannot argue with first, because taking them off the board is what makes the awkward one obvious.

What the words mean
Group:
four of the sixteen words that belong together for one reason. There are exactly 4 of them and every word is in one
Clue:
the reason a group is a group, such as trees or things that go before BALL. You only see it once you have found the group, because seeing it first would be the answer
Life:
you have 4. A group of 4 that is not one of ours costs one, and at nought the board closes and shows you what it was
Three of four:
what we say when a wrong group had exactly three of the right words in it. It is the most useful thing this game can tell you: one of those four is in the wrong place and the other three are a group
Lives left:
what you scored. Solve it having lost nothing and you finish on four, which is a perfect day
