- Type the highlighted word, then press space.The passage moves along one word at a time. The word you are on is underlined and marked with an arrow, so you never have to hunt for your place.
- Keep going until the clock runs out.Nobody reaches the end. The passage is 120 words on purpose, so the game is how far you get rather than who arrives first.
- Do not chase the speed at the cost of the accuracy.A wrong word comes off your total, and if accuracy drops under 92% you are capped at 60 however fast you were.

What the words mean
- Words per minute:
- how fast you typed. 5 characters counts as one word, spaces included, which is how every typing test has counted since typewriters
- Net speed:
- your raw speed with the wrong words taken back off it. It is the number that scores, and it is the only one worth boasting about
- Accuracy:
- how many of the characters you typed were the right one in the right place. Under 92% and your speed is capped at 60, however fast you were
- Word tap:
- the phone run. An on-screen keyboard makes typing speed mean something different, so a touch device gets 24 words tapped from a tray instead, with its own par. Both runs say which one they were, on the board and on the ledger, so the number never means two things
- Attested:
- your browser measured the speed, not us, and there is no way for us to check it. It counts when you play with friends, and never on a global board
- Par:
- the speed half the room beats. 40 words per minute on a keyboard, 22 on a phone
