UnlimitedNothing here counts towards your streak or the day’s board.
Land the beam in the trap. Only one setting of the six mounts does it, and its line touches every mount on the board.
Mirrors in0of 6 mounts
One shot. The beam is not drawn until you fire.
The beam comes in left along row 7 and has to land in the trap at row 1, column 1.
6 mounts still bare. Tap one to put a mirror in it.
You can fire with mounts left bare. Sometimes that is the answer.
- Mount, nothing in it yet
- Mirror, forward slash
- Mirror, back slash
- The trap, where the beam has to land
- The gate, where the beam comes in
Mounts
Land the beam in the trap. Only one setting of the six mounts does it, and its line touches every mount on the board.
- Trace the beam with your eye, from the gate, square by square.A forward slash sends a beam going right upwards and a beam going down leftwards. A back slash does the opposite. A mount left bare lets the beam straight through, which is a real setting and sometimes the right one.
- Set every mount, then fire.Moving a mirror before you fire is free and costs nothing. Firing is the whole game, and there is only one shot in it.
- Use the thing that narrows it down. The arrangement that works sends the beam through every mount on the board. A line that misses one of them is the wrong line, whatever else it does.
Scored on mounts off the line.
What the words mean
- Mount:
- a bracket bolted to the grid, drawn as a ring. A mirror can go in it, leaning one way or the other, or it can be left bare. Where the mounts are is fixed; how they are set is your whole move
- Lean:
- which way a mirror in a mount tilts. A forward slash leans right, a back slash leans left, and each one turns the beam a quarter turn
- Bare:
- a mount with no mirror in it. The beam goes straight through, and on some boards that is exactly what the answer wants
- The gate:
- the arrow on the rim where the beam comes in. You do not choose it
- The trap:
- the ringed square the beam has to end up in. It is always on the rim
- Your line:
- the path your beam draws, bending at every mirror. It is not drawn until you fire, because working it out in your head is the game
