What the words mean
- A rung:
- one question, and the tier it sits on. The five tiers are 50%, 25%, 12%, 5% and 1%, they are the same every day, and rung one is the one most people get
- The tier:
- how hard a rung is meant to be. A question lands on the tier nearest its own solve rate, so the 1% rung always holds the hardest thing we have got
- The rate:
- the share of players who actually got that question right, shown once you have answered it. It is measured from what people did, not decided by whoever wrote the question, and it moves as more people play
- We reckon:
- what the rate says while too few people have played a question for a real figure. That percentage is our estimate and it is very possibly wrong. Once two hundred people have had a go, the measurement replaces it and the words change
