Sweep
Open every square that is not a mine, as quickly as you can.
- Tap a covered square to open it.The number on it counts the mines in the eight squares around it. A blank one touches none.
- Put a flag on any square you have worked out is a mine.A flag is a note to yourself. It costs nothing, scores nothing, and stops you opening that square by accident.
- Carry on playing if you do open a mine.It does not end your round. It costs you 20 seconds, the square stays revealed, and the board can still be finished.
Scored on time.
What the words mean
- Sweep:
- to open every square that is not a mine. That is the whole win condition
- Mine:
- a hidden square that costs you twenty seconds if you open it. Twelve of them
- Touching number:
- the digit on an open square, counting the mines in the eight squares around it. A blank square touches none
- Flag:
- a marker you put on a square you think is a mine, so you do not open it by accident. Just a note to yourself: it costs nothing and scores nothing
- Detonation:
- opening a mine. Twenty seconds on your time and the square is revealed. You are not out, and the round carries on
- No-guess:
- every board is checked before you get it, so it can always be finished by working it out. If you are stuck, there is something left to read
- Par:
- the time a steady player would take on this particular board
