Weave
Fill in exactly the squares the numbers describe, and never one you have not worked out.
- Tap a square to fill it in.Filled squares are the weave. The numbers beside each row and above each column say what it has to end up as.
- Read "3 1" as three, then a gap, then one.The numbers are runs of touching squares, IN ORDER, with at least one empty square between each run. So 3 1 is three together, at least one empty square, then a single one. Not four squares scattered about.
- Cross out every square you have worked out is empty.A cross is your own pencil. It scores nothing, it is never counted against you, and it is usually the thing that makes the next run obvious.
Scored on mistakes.
What the words mean
- Weave:
- this game, and the pattern you are working out. Fill in the squares the numbers describe and it comes up out of the grid
- Clue:
- the numbers at the end of a row or the top of a column, saying how long each block of filled squares in that line is
- Run:
- a block of filled squares with nothing between them. A 4 means four touching squares, not four squares somewhere in the line
- Fill:
- mark a square as part of the weave. This is the only kind of mark that counts, and the only one that can be wrong
- Cross:
- mark a square you have worked out is empty, so you stop re-reading it. Your own pencil: it costs nothing, scores nothing, and it is how anybody keeps track of a line
- Line logic:
- working a square out from one row or one column on its own, without ever guessing. Every grid here is checked before you get it, so all hundred squares can be found that way
- Mistake:
- a square you filled in that is not part of the weave. It counts even if you take it back afterwards, and it is the only thing you are scored on
- Par:
- no mistakes at all. Not a hope but a fact: every grid can be worked out, so a clean sheet is what playing it properly gives you
