  1. Read a line and its numbers, then fill the squares you can prove.The numbers are the runs of filled squares IN ORDER, with at least one empty square between them. So 3 1 means three together, a gap, then one on its own.
  2. Cross out any square you have worked out is empty.A cross is a note to yourself. It costs nothing, scores nothing, and it is usually what makes the next run obvious.
  3. Keep going until every row and every column matches its numbers.Every grid here is checked first, so it can always be worked out one line at a time. If you are stuck, there is a line left to read.

What the words mean
Gridlight:
this game. Fill in the squares the numbers describe and a picture appears
Clue:
the numbers at the end of a row or the top of a column, saying how many filled squares come in a row
Run:
a block of filled squares with nothing between them. 4 means four touching squares, not four squares somewhere in the line
Fill:
mark a square as part of the picture. This is the only kind of mark that scores
Cross:
mark a square you have worked out is empty, so you stop re-reading it. Just a note to yourself: it costs nothing and scores nothing
Line logic:
working out a square from one row or one column on its own, without ever guessing. Every grid here can be finished that way
